StringVision Piezo-Film Pickup

The Stringvision Piezo Pickup for Cello is a brilliant, non-invasive, great-sounding solution for amplifying your acoustic cello.

The pickup itself is rubber on internal spring steel. It slides onto the bridge easily from the side and plugs directly into your preamp or direct box via the included cable (cable is one single RCA plug at the pickup running to a standard 1/4 inch output).

Passive pickup (requires external preamp)

TIP : Install on the bass side for deeper/warmer sound; on treble side for brighter/clearer sound.

NOTE: This is a passive pickup! You will need a separate external preamp or direct box if plugging into a P.A./sound system. Otherwise plug directly into your on-stage amplifier/speaker-cabinet.

Recommended preamps:

L.R. Baggs : Para-Acoustic D.I.
K and K : Pure Preamp
Headway : EDB1 D.I. Acoustic EQ / Preamp
All these require a 9V battery

Hello S!
The StringVision Pickup requires amplification.  This means that a guitar, bass, or keyboard amp will work for small venues.  Larger venues that have a PA will require either a preamp/direct box, or that you mic the amp you’re using.
 
It sounds like your guitar amp will work just fine.  If you like the sound you get with it, then you can mic it at larger gigs.  I use an L.R. Baggs Para-Acoustic DI box with my Stringvision pickup when playing out, and I use only my guitar amp in my home studio.

Morning,
I need more information about the stringvision pickup.  
 
Is a preamp only needed when the pickup is plugged into a PA system?  And not needed when it is plugged directly into a guitar amp?  I don't want to get a preamp if it is not needed for a practice guitar amp, 15 watts.
